Overall, the gap between White homeownership and all minorities has exceeded 20 percentage points for more than two decades. This report examines where in the U.S. this gap continues to be most pronounced.

Researchers calculated the percentage of owner-occupied households that are headed by baby boomers, then ranked locations accordingly.

In order to cope with rising prices, millennials are taking out larger home loans with higher loan-to-value ratios than older generations. To identify where millennials are buying homes, researchers ranked metros and states according to the millennial share of conventional home purchase loans originated in 2023.
